The Kingfi sher High School girls tennis team brought home more than just rackets last Friday from the Hub City Classic tournament at Clinton. The Lady Jackets placed second as a team in the one-day tournament.

Back-to-back home wins last week gave the Kingfisher boys’ soccer team its first win streak of the season.The Jackets scored five unanswered goals Thursday night to defeat Tuttle 6-1 on senior night.

It was an emotional start to Kingfisher’s soccer senior night matchup with Newkirk…and then it ended on an emotional high.All seniors got the start in the 10-0 District 3A-2 victory, but three of them were in uniform for the first and only time this year.

Both the Kingfisher girls and Hennessey boys took third place overall in last Friday’s Chisholm Invitational track and field meet.KHS scored 89.5 points despite being without one of its most prolific athletes of the season.

Thomas dominated much of the top of the leaderboard Monday to win the inaugural Dover Invitational golf tournament at Kingfisher Golf Course.The Terriers had three of the five medalists and won the team championship over 16 other squads.

Lomega senior Abby Swart has more basketball to play this summer.The Lady Raider last week was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State team.She’s a member of the Small West, which consists of just 10 players from Class 3A down to Class B.

A strong finish helped Piedmont knock off a strong field Wednesday to win the Kingfisher Invitational golf tournament.The Wildcats finished with a flurry of birdies on No. 11, their last hole at Kingfisher Golf Course, to shoot a 278 in the Maxwell format tournament.

Kingfisher went 2-2 last week in its baseball tournament, which is co-hosted with El Reno. The Jackets returned to action Monday in a 13-7 district loss to Weatherford at home.They completed the home-and-home with the Eagles Tuesday (after press time).
