Rick Koch was the first political candidate of the 2026 election season to visit the Kingfisher Times & Free Press office last week.Koch is president of ASAP Energy, Inc., a retail, hospitality, marketing, fuel transportation and petroleum products company based in Weatherford.

The Lomega Student Council recently volunteered at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. Students spent the afternoon packaging fresh produce and items for the after-school backpack program.

Kingfisher County 4-H was well represented by four livestock judging teams at the Oklahoma State Fair on Sept. 15.There was one senior team and three junior teams who completed the contest.The senior team members were Clancy Broome, Dally Pedersen, Emerson Belt and Cole Holdrigde.

The City of Kingfisher will host a groundbreaking ceremony to begin construction of the much-anticipated new fire station at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6.This was announced by City Manager Jim Thomas at the city commission’s special meeting Monday evening at City Hall.

After hearing from nearly two dozen witnesses, a Kingfisher County grand jury chose not to return any indictments in a case that resulted in the 2020 shooting death of Christopher Robinson.

Kingfisher County commissioners accepted the bid of Zyzer Asphalt of Kingfisher to do chip and seal work in all three districts Monday. Zyzer submitted the low bid in all three districts using prescribed material.Zyzer’s bid by district follows:• District 1, 12.5 miles, $1,174,537.

• FIRE STATION GROUNDBREAKING: The City of Kingfisher is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Kingfisher Fire Department station. It will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the station’s future site at 1501 S. Main St. The public is encouraged to attend.
