The Piedmont City Council on Monday will vote on the fate of a rezoning measure sought by a group seeking to place a data center north of the city in Canadian County.

Redlands Community College recently announced the academic achievements of its student-athletes for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Jhett Birdwell has been selected as this year’s Kingfisher Roundup Club $1,000 scholarship recipient.Birdwell is a 2026 graduate of Kingfisher High School and the son of Joel and Bridget Birdwell.He is also the grandson of James and Jeanne Birdwell and Sue Yost and the late Kenneth Yost.

Five Kingfisher High School seniors were guests recently at a meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club.Joining the local civic group were Jaxon Sheppard, Kaiden Eckart, Cooper Davis, Carson Nusz and Maliki Haines.Sheppard is the son of Jesse Sheppard and Ashton Sheppard.

Marriage LicensesKingfisher County Court Clerk Lauren Stroh issued marriage licenses recently to the following couples: July 31: Daniel John Gurka, 57, and Natasha Christina Wills, 52, both of Mustang; James Edward McBee, 43, and Brandy Leann Cassil, 41, both of Hinton.

The Hennessey Senior Citizen Center will have a Bingo party at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.The center is located at 620 E. 2nd St.Everyone is invited and all will get two free cards for a chance to win a prize.

Preliminary plans for Hennessey’s annual Wine Festival scheduled the first Saturday in October got off the ground in a Thursday, Aug. 13, meeting of the Hennessey United board of directors.Festival Chairman Dagan Hardin said said they have 1,224 glasses, 26 tables and nine canopies.

The sights and sounds were all around beginning Thursday as the Kingfisher County Fair got under way in the Exhibit Building. There was also plenty of smelling, tasting and touching as entries submitted by county exhibitors were being judged.
