George Holt
George Henry Holt was born Feb. 19, 1945, in Clovis, Calif., and passed away on June 9, 2026, in Kingfi sher.
He was born to Joseph and Annie Gatlin Holt. George enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 1967 in Fresno, Calif. He proudly served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War from April 30, 1968, to April 25, 1969.
He was a helicopter mechanic and a member of the insertion unit that transported troops into combat zones and provided cover during air assault missions.
After his tour, George was transferred to Ft. Stewart, Ga.
He was honorably discharged on Aug. 27, 1970.
His deep love of country was a value he passed down to his family, inspiring generations with his example of service, sacrifice and patriotism.
On Aug. 9, 1970, George married the love of his life, Jeanne Rahn in Savannah, Ga.
When the two married, George not only became a husband, but the perfect bonus dad to Jeanne’s four children, Shirlene, Kandy, Kenny and Peg.
After their union, the family lived in various places in Georgia. In October 1975, the family made the big move to Oklahoma and settled in Dover.
In 1989, the two moved to Kingfisher.
George probably went by many names: Butch, Pops, Papa and Papa G.
Along with Jeanne, also known as GG, George loved hosting family events and gatherings. He didn’t know a stranger; he considered everyone as family.
George loved the simple things in life. He loved a freshly mowed yard and a good cup of coffee. He spent a lot of time in the garden; he especially loved his rose bushes.
He loved a family camping trip and fishing with his sons and grandsons. From his fish pond in the backyard, his dogs, to his newfound love of chickens, it’s easy to say he had a love for animals.
George lived a life of service. From his service in the U.S. Army to his time working at the Oklahoma State Department of Transrian portation, where he later retired, George saw value in serving others and putting their needs above his own.
George loved and adored his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and two great-great-grandkids. His face always lit up when the littles walked into the room.
But there was no doubt, his number one girl, the love of his life, was Jeanne! Opening her door or letting her go first were only a few of the many ways he honored her.
They were always holding hands and could often be found dancing barefoot in the living room. From their many shopping trips to OKC, cruising the aisles at Walmart or sitting on the front porch drinking coffee, the two loved being together and it was rare to see one without the other.
George leaves behind an incredible legacy of love spanning five generations.
He is survived by his and Jeanne’s children: Shirlene Harrell and Kandy Cochran, both of Kingfisher and Kenny (Trecia) Harrell of Mustang. In total they had 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne, his parents, his siblings, his precious daughter Peg, beloved niece Susan Holt and great-grandsons Kaden and Jace.
A Celebration of Life for George is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, at Frontline Ministries under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
