Kinlee East’s shutout didn’t head south this time and it’s got her team continuing to head north in the standings.

The Kingfisher High School senior pitched a two-hit shutout on the road Thursday as the Lady Jackets downed Woodward 2-0 in a massive District 4A-3 showdown.

The win puts Kingfisher at 6-1 and alone at the top of the district.

Woodward dropped to 6-2 - and 13-2 overall - with both of those losses coming at the hands of the Lady Jackets.

East let a potential shutout slip away with a wild pitch on Tuesday in the Lady Jackets’ 11-1 win against Clinton.

It didn’t happen this time around as she gave up just one walk and struck out eight batters, including the last two she faced.

She held Woodward without a hit until the fourth inning and only one Boomer got as far as second base the entire game.

That performance landed East, a Southern Nazarene University commit, with Woodward’s Kaleigh Mills.

Mills, who has committed to play at the University of Central Oklahoma, also took a no-hitter into the fourth.

That was broken up by East’s double, though the Lady Jackets weren’t able to capitalize.

KHS did strike in the sixth.

Adlee Friesen, a senior committed to play at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, delivered a one-out single.

She then stole second base to get into scoring position.

With two outs, Kendall Farrar hit a chopper to the right side.

The offering was fielded by first baseman Preslea Morales, but she was too far off the bag to outrun Farrar and had nobody else covering the base.

Meanwhile, Friesen advanced to third on contact, then broke for home as Morales looked to first base.

Friesen slid under the tag to give KHS a 1-0 lead.

Insurance came in the form of Lily Voth to lead off the seventh.

The junior slammed a solo shot over the left field wall for the two-run advantage.

Mills was nearly as good as East as she struck out nine, walked one and gave up three total hits.

Farrar ended Tuesday’s game against Clinton with a two-run home run over the left field wall.

That gave KHS the runrule victory in five innings. It was Kingfisher’s sixth extra-base hit of the contest and third home run.

Voth yanked a solo shot in the third inning for Kingfisher’s first run and Addison Johnson added a two-run shot in the third when the home team broke the game open.

Johnson’s homer was Kingfisher’s third straight extra-base hit.

East’s two-run double pushed home Farrar and Ryan Scammahorn for a 3-0 lead.

Voth followed with an RBI double, which set up Johnson’s homer.

East also had an RBI double in the fourth.

Johnson’s RBI sac fly later in the inning made it an 8-1 contest.

Liliana Garramone made it 9-1 in Kingfisher’s favor in the fifth, which preceded Farrar’s walkoff homer.

Eight different Lady Jackets combined for 13 hits.

Voth was 3 for 3 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs.

East, Farrar, Johnson and Garramone had two hits apiece.

East and Johnson both drove in three runs.

Farrar had 2 RBIs and scored three times.

East gave up six hits over her five innings of work. She struck out three without surrendering a walk. Her run was unearned.

KHS is now 13-6 overall and has won five straight since a district loss to Elk City.

The Elkettes fell on hard times this week with three straight losses, including 4-2 against Woodward on Tuesday. The other two losses were to Clinton and Bishop McGuinness, two teams at the bottom of the district.

The losses dropped Elk City to 2-3 in 4A-3 and in fourth place, one spot behind Weatherford.

The Lady Jackets travel to Elk City to attempt to avenge the loss on Tuesday and then host McGuinness on Thursday.
