Kingfisher took another big step toward a potential district championship and avenged its only district loss in the process.

Addison Johnson drove in three runs, Lily Voth did damage with her bat and arm and Kinlee East shut the door as KHS defeated Elk City 5-4 in a Tuesday road game.

The win was the Lady Jackets’ sixth straight since losing 8-2 at home to Elk City on Aug. 24.

It was only the second win against the Elkettes for this year’s crop of seniors.

They fell behind 2-0 when Elk City capitalized on a walk, two hits and a KHS error in the bottom of the first inning.

Johnson cut the deficit in half with a solo home run in the second inning.

Voth then tied the game with a leadoff homer in the fourth.

The Lady Jackets took a seemingly commanding lead in the fifth.

Ryan Scammahorn, Kendall Farrar and Voth loaded the bases with singles and Johnson pushed two of them home with a single.

Callie Blair added an RBI fielder’s choice for a 5-2 lead.

The Elkettes clawed back into it with four singles in the bottom of the inning. Those plus a fielder’s choice plated two runs before Voth got out of the inning.

Voth pitched one batter into the sixth inning before making way for East.

The senior needed just eight pitches to get out of that inning, then retired Elk City in order in the seventh for the save.

She didn’t allow a hit over her two innings.

Voth got the win with her 5-plus innings of work. She surrendered 10 hits, but just one earned run while striking out two and walking three.

Kingfisher also had 10 hits in the game.

Johnson was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a run scored.

Farrar was also 3 for 4 and scored a run.

Voth went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run.
