As the makeshift student section rained down with “East is a beast” chants, the senior slugger nearly gave them what they wanted.

Kinlee East pounded a shot to dead center field in the bottom of the fourth inning of Kingfisher’s home game with Bishop McGuinness on Thursday.

As the anticipation grew, the blast didn’t clear the fence, but it did make the familiar sound of ball hitting tin.

East “settled” for a tworun, standup double, but the crowd’s excitement didn’t wane. She later scored in the three-run frame to help the Lady Jackets continue their impressive run in District 4A-3.

KHS belted out 12 hits and Lily Voth pitched a six-inning shutout as the Lady Jackets run-ruled visiting Bishop McGuinness 10-0.

That moved them to 15-6 overall and 8-1 in the district. Kingfisher maintains its solo lead in the district.

Prior to the game, the team honored Debbie Daugherty on “Pink Out” night. Daugherty joined the team on the field as her story of breast cancer survival was read for the overflow crowd.

She then threw out the first pitch and was presented a signed softball and flowers before posing with the team.

The Lady Jackets then continued to get their flowers on the diamond as they won for the seventh straight time.

Voth got out of a potential jam in the top of the first inning when Kendall Farrar charged in to make a low catch in center field, then doubled up a runner at second base.

Kingfisher then posted three runs in the bottom of the second and wasn’t threatened again.

The runs came via a fielder’s choice RBI off Voth’s bat and then two runs scored on an error when Addison Johnson sent a fly ball to center field.

Ryan Scammahorn delivered a two-out single in the second to score Adlee Friesen to push it to 4-0.

Voth led off the third with a double and her courtesy runner, Leni Murray, later scored on a passed ball.

All the while the crowd was continuing to build in size and rowdiness just above the McGuinness dugout. They were sent into a frenzy in the fourth with back-to-back walks by Friesen and Scammahorn and then a single by Farrar.

East sent them both home and then scored on Voth’s fielder’s choice.

Farrar led off the sixth with a triple - her third hit of the game - and scored when East reached on an error.

The game ended when Avery Harder drove home East with a two-out single.

Farrar was 3 for 3 and scored all three times. The junior is now hitting an eye-popping .667 on the season.

Friesen was 2 for 3 and scored twice while Voth and Harder each had two hits.

Voth picked up 2 RBIs, as did East.

In the circle, Voth struck out nine batters and only allowed four hits.

The Lady Jackets have three district games remaining - all on the road.

They visit Weatherford next Tuesday before taking a break from the district and hosting the OKC Broncos next Thursday.

They close out the district Sept. 21 at Clinton and Sept. 22 at Bethany.
