With the playoffs on the horizon, the Okarche baseball team has managed its best stretch of the season.

Entering Thursday, the Warriors had won four of their last five games to push their record to 9-12.

Each of the wins came against ranked teams, two of them in the top five of their respective class.

That included Tuesday’s 12-6 upset at Class A’s fifth-ranked Arapaho- Butler.

The Warriors jumped on the Indians with four runs in the top of the first and played from in front the whole game.

Twice in the game Arapaho pulled within a run, but the Warriors answered with runs in the next half-inning.

That included in the fifth when Canon Rother’s two-run homer turned a one-run advantage into a 9-6 lead.

Rother was 2 for 3 and scored four times to go with his 2 RBIs.

Tucker White went 2 for 3 and drove in four runs.

Jag Mueggenborg and Court Sumrall also had 2 RBIs each while Grady Terrell scored twice.

Cooper Anderson pitched the game’s first 2 2/3 innings and allowed one hit and four runs. He struck out three and walked three.

Terrell pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief and surrendered three hits and two runs.

Sumrall closed out the final three innings. He only gave up one hit and struck out four.

The Warriors knocked off Class B’s fourthranked Leedey 8-7 at home on Monday in what might have been the most improbable of wins.

Down five runs going into the bottom of the seventh, Okarche scored six runs to win it.

White delivered the game-ending hit.

With his team down two and the bases loaded, he singled to left field to push home Mueggenborg.

A throwing error allowed Jett Yost and Collison Black to score as well, ending the game.

The inning started with Sumrall walking and Anderson and Terrell following with singles to load the bases.

Sumrall scored when Jake Henderson drew a walk.

Muegenborg made it 7-5 with a two-run single with two outs.

Anderson had two hits in the game as Okarche collected seven as a team.

Mueggenborg and White both had 2 RBIs.

Grady Rother pitched the first three innings and White pitched in the fourth as well.

Will Kroener closed it out with four innings of relief. He gave up just two hits and no runs while striking out five to earn the win.

Okarche’s other two wins during the stretch were 5-1 against 2A’s 11th-ranked Oklahoma Christian Academy and 6-3 over Class B No. 8 Drummond on Sept. 10 and 11, respectively.
