The Oklahoma Eagles Elite 2022 went out in grand - make that gold - fashion. The team played its final game together earlier this month and defeated Houston Basketball National 39-34 in overtime to win the OKC Summer Nationals championship game.

Just over a week before the start of this softball season, new Dover coach Matt Peck was unsure about his team. The Lady Longhorns had just taken part in a preseason festival at Watonga and things did not go well. “It’s going to take a lot of work,” Peck said. Now, almost a month into the season?

Lady Jackets finish 4th at Highway 33 Classic

Kingfisher was undefeated in the middle portion of the Highway 33 Classic last weekend. It was the first and last games that got the Lady Jackets. KHS settled for fourth place in its own softball tournament after Saturday’s 5-2 loss to Guthrie JV in the third-place game.

Off and running

The 2018 Kingfisher High School girls cross country team won a state championship. While it’s to be determined if the 2021 version can attain that status, it may have the title team bested in at least one department. “I have never had a team with this much depth,” coach Kerri Lafferty said.

KHS softball goes 3-2 at Woodward

Kingfisher went 3-2 in its first tournament of the softball season and gave head coach Danny Green reason for optimism. The Lady Jackets knocked off OKC Broncos, Beaver and Guymon JV while suffering losses to Woodward and Watonga.
