From the start, it didn’t appear it would be Lomega’s day.And it wasn’t. The Raiders saw their season come to an end Wednesday as they fell prey to Cyril 74-56 in the Class B quarterfinals at State Fair Arena.

Few teams can match the athleticism of the Kingfisher Lady Jackets. Weatherford is one of them. The fourth-ranked Lady Eagles held KHS to its second-lowest scoring total of the season to claim a 45-30 victory Saturday in their Class 4A regional championship game at the APB.

Apache pulled off one upset in the regional. Hennessey made sure it didn’t get another. The sixth-ranked Eagles are within a single win of the state tournament with last Saturday’s 55-37 victory over Apache in their Class 2A regional championship at the Eagle Event Center.

When the Kingfisher High School seniors walked off the APB court last Saturday night, they did so after having just played their last game at home. And they never lost one of them. The Yellowjackets overwhelmed No.

Kevin Lewallen said basketball becomes a much easier game to play when you simply make shots. His Lady Raiders didn’t do a lot of that in their regional final win against Webbers Falls when they scored a season-low 46 points.

When the game was on the line, not one Lomega Raider stepped up. They all did. That was exemplified late when Dilon Fisher grabbed a steal and made a pass upcourt to Riley Lumpkin as he was falling out of bounds.
