Hennessey board faces water, sewer issues

It could cost up to $500,000 to replace one of the two filtration skids at Hennessey’s 18-year-old water plant. That’s what town board members were told last Thursday night and they’ll get the exact cost in early June when the bids come in.

Stillwater firm submits winning bids for county steel bridge materials

Kingfisher County commissioners opened bids on steel bridge materials for Districts 2 and 3 at their meeting Monday. Railroad Yard of Stillwater submitted the low and winning bids on each project. Railroad Yard’s bid of $19,630 edged Sunbelt of Meeker for the District 2 project.

Funeral services for Jeanita (Hardin) Richardson, 100, of Hennessey, were Monday, May 17, at First Christian Church and officiated by Rev. Ish Engle and Jimmy Berkenbile. Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Sister Ellen Shannon

Sister Ellen Shannon, O.P., who taught at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Kingfisher 1957-59, died April 17, according to a recent edition of the Sooner Catholic. She was a resident of Saint Dominic Villa in Hazel Green, Wis., at time of death. Her religious name was Sister Moise.

Study Club hosts annual Senior Tea

Kingfisher Study Club hosted more than three dozen Kingfisher High School students during last week’s annual Senior Girls Tea. Nellie Sanders was the guest speaker for the event held at the First United Methodist Church.
