Kingfisher’s Burnham 2nd at conference golf

All the golfers battled a rugged south wind Monday during the Western Athletic Conference Golf Tournament. Tristun Burnham did it just about as good as anyone. Burnham shot a 3-overpar 75 at Lake Hefner Golf Club’s North Course to finish as the conference runner-up.

Watkins takes 2nd at USTA event

Kingfisher’s Sydney Watkins went 3-1 last weekend to capture the runner-up trophy at the Oakwood Spring Classic tennis tournament in Enid. Watkins was defeated 4-1, 4-0 in the championship match of the United States Tennis Association event’s 16-under division.

Jeanette Bollman

Jeanette Theresa Vogt Bollman died peacefully on April 19, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Jeanette and her identical twin sister, Annette, were born to Joseph and Marie Vogt in Okarche on Dec. 1, 1940.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Curtis Eugene Turner, 68, of Hennessey, was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hennessey on Wednesday, April 28, with Father Edward Manasco officiating. Burial followed at Hennessey Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Wynema Godsy

Wynema Colleen (LaRue) Godsy was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Leonard, Okla., the daughter of William L. and Veloura LaRue. She passed away on April 25, 2021, in Oklahoma City due to respiratory failure at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward Leon Godsy.

Linda Casteel

Services for Linda Rae Casteel, 75, of Hennessey were held at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Covington on Saturday, April 24, with the Rev. Tom Donaldson officiating. Burial followed at the Covington Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

HFD to host open house

Hennessey firefighters will host their annual Open House and BBQ dinner Saturday at the fire station north of the Hennessey Public Library on Main Street. It will be held from 5-7:30 p.m.
