Traffic accidents

The following traffic accidents are being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department: October 18, 12:43 a.m. - At 1309 S. Main St. Rory Parker, 53, Kingfisher, driving a 2007 Mazda, was northbound on U.S. 81.

Police reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: October 6 - Larceny from the house. Officer Charles Trout responded to a report of theft in the 700 block of South Third Street.

School board to review annual audit at November meeting

Kingfisher’s board of education will learn the results of the district’s most recent audit and will also review guidelines for winter sports at its November regular meeting. The board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Kingfisher High School cafeteria.

Ronald Smola

Ronald Dean Smola, 73, died peacefully on Oct. 20, 2020, in Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Ron was born Dec. 12, 1946, in El Reno to Stanley and Neva Smola. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy.

Glenda Carmichael

Glenda Kaye (Forbes) Carmichael, 78, Kingfisher, passed away at her home on Oct. 27, 2020. Glenda was the daughter of Glen and Lorene Forbes of Kingfisher. She was a 1960 graduate of Kingfisher High School and remained close friends with most of her classmates throughout the years.

Zoey Evans was mentally gearing up to run the final race of her high school career over the weekend. Now she’ll have to slow those gears down for a few more days.

KHS softball players earn all-district

Two Kingfisher softball players earned all-district honors and three more were honorable mention after a vote by coaches last week. District 4A-1 first-team honors were awarded to senior Mia Farrell and Olivia Wilcox. Farrell was named as an outfielder and Wilcox as a pitcher.

Basketball season begins this week for county teams

Softball season has ended. Cross country comes to a close this week. Football season is nearing the playoffs. All of that, plus November’s arrival, means it’s time for winter sports. The first to begin is basketball and for Classes A and B, they can begin high school games this week.
