Two sales tax measures will be decided by voters in November after both the county and city of Kingfisher adopted resolutions Monday calling for elections on that date.

Dr. Joseph Anthony Voss Sr., resident of El Reno since 1969, died Aug. 8, 2020, at his home north of El Reno with his wife, children and grandchildren at his side. A prayer service was held Monday and Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday with the Rev. Lance Warren officiating.

Surrounded by her family, Joyce Sundermeier Andrews, 62, died peacefully in her home in Okarche on Aug. 7, 2020.

Henry Christian Oppel was born Sept. 25, 1927, at Omega to Frederick and Marie (Kunneman) Oppel and died Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at the age of 92. Henry was a resident of the Watonga community most of his life where he was a farmer/rancher.

Samuel Allen Forman, formerly of Kingfisher, was born Sept. 18, 1988, and died Aug. 7, 2020. He was 31. Services are pending with Sanders Funeral Service of Kingfisher.

Getting Pre-K 4-year-olds to stand six feet apart isn’t easy. Same goes for starting the new fiscal year being down $345,000 in the general fund. “We’re not going to be able to make up that money,” Hennessey School Superintendent Dr. Mike Woods told school board members Monday, Aug. 10.

Senior Olivia Wilcox drove in three runs and struck out 10 batters Monday as high school sports returned to Oklahoma for the first time since March. Wilcox led Kingfisher to a 14-3 win at McLoud in the softball season opener.

This past week, I had a very informative meeting with Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur and her team from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF). We discussed a wide range of issues faced by producers in Oklahoma.
