Retirement leads to KPS staff changes

A retirement just before school started caused some shuffling of the Kingfisher Public Schools staff just before its first day of 2020- 21. Dianna Weems informed administrators last Monday that she was retiring.

Crescent school staff for 2020-21

Following is the Crescent Public School staff for the 2020-21 school year. Crescent’s first day is scheduled to be Tuesday, Aug. 18: Superintendent - Bart Watkins Elementary and middle school Wayne Owens - Principal T.J.

Shirley Rome

Shirley E. Rome, 97, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hugoton, Kan. She was born to Walter L. and Marguerite (Ryan) Whitcomb on Oct. 16, 1922, in Berwyn, Ill. Shirley married Leonard Bryan in the summer of 1947.

Kreede Schwarz

Kreede Louis Schwarz was born March 11, 2019, to his loving parents, Daniel and Brittany Schwarz of Okarche. He had the biggest blue eyes and blondest hair. From the day Kreede was born, he was a busy boy. He spent his days helping his daddy on their farm.

Alvin Stribel, Jr.

Alvin Leo Stribel, Jr., Hennessey, 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020. He was born Sept. 9, 1938, to Alvin and Golda Stribel. Alvin was raised on the family farm in Hennessey where he attended school and would live throughout his life.

Not all about coronavirus: schools under construction

Yes, we are in the midst of a pandemic. Yes, every school in our area is returning with in-person instruction. Yes, there will be a lot of masks in schools. Yes, schools may be forced to moved to virtual/ distance learning one or more times during this term.

Monday night storm brings rain, wind damage to area

Thunderstorms covered much of Kingfisher County Monday night leaving rainfall ranging around one-half inch or a little more. Kingfisher received .6 inch officially. Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded that amount at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfisher.
