A memorial service for Max Castonguay will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at Kingfisher Church of The Nazarene. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service-Kingfisher.

Michael ‘Moe’ Moore

Services for Michael “Moe” Moore, 71, Enid, were Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Mark Hein officiating. Michael was born Sept. 6, 1948, in Kingfisher, to Donald “Dink” Moore and Peggy Beard Moore and passed away July 28, 2020, at his daughter’s house near Garber.

County fair still planned

Even though the Oklahoma City State Fair has been canceled, the Kingfisher County Fair will continue as scheduled on Aug. 26-29, with modifications.

HPS ‘Return to Learn’ plan implemented

Hennessey school board members focused on student safety during a special board meeting Thursday evening. “We have to do everything we can to keep them safe when they walk in the door at school,” said Hennessey Board of Education President Dr. James Matthew Matousek.

City OKs new KPD building

Replacing the aging and undersized Kingfisher Police Department headquarters was a few years down on the capital improvement priority list, but when a nearly turn-key building became available at a reasonable price, city commissioners couldn’t pass it up.

Thomas Somers

Thomas Clifford Somers was born Dec. 15, 1953, in Oklahoma City. He passed on July 24, 2020, in Oklahoma City at the age of 66. Thomas was a longtime resident of Kingfisher. He was a truck driver most of his life and retired from MMS Construction.

Niemyer presented CASA scholarship

Cashion Athletic Sports Association (CASA) recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship to 2020 graduate Kaylin Niemyer. Blindly selected from a panel of judges, Niemyer provided academic achievements, college acceptance and a brief essay on her accomplishments.
