Walking With Ease program starts here June 9

The Kingfisher County Extension will begin an exercise program on walking next month. The “Walking With Ease” program will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building. It will continue each Tuesday and Thursday at the same time.

The ‘silver lining’

(Stossel is author of “No They Can’t! Why Government Fails—But Individuals Succeed.”) The government has closed most schools. So, more parents are teaching kids at home. That upsets the government school monopoly. Education “experts” say parents lack the expertise to teach their kids.

Work continues on the plaza that will welcome people entering and exiting Kingfisher on U.S. 81 from the north. The plaza is a project of the Kingfisher Tree Board. On both sides it reads “KINGFISHER” on top and “A TREE CITY USA COMMUNITY” below as well as an outline of Oklahoma.

HHS 2020 grad awards are announced

Hennessey High School seniors will share $821,800 in scholarships this year and chosen for the Masonic Students of Today honors for good citizenship are Kaden Mitchell and Claire Ullery.

Kingfisher Police Department reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: May 8 - Receiving and/ or concealing stolen property. Officer Justin Trumbley took a report of a possible theft of Pioneer Telephone property from a UPS warehouse in Enid.

Margie Metzler

Margie Reinart Metzler was born July 24, 1932, in Okeene and passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at the age of 87. Margie graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Okeene and was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Okeene.

Richard Enix

The funeral for Richard Enix 67, was 2 p.m. Tuesday May 26, at First Christian Church in Hennessey and officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile. Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Loretta Schroder Rodenburg

Loretta Caroline Schroder Rodenburg was born to Christian parents in Okarche on June 11, 1919. She passed away peacefully at her home in Springfield, Ill., on May 22, 2020. The only surviving child of Henry W. and Clara Schroder, she grew up in Okarche. Loretta attended St.
