Committee and floor work begins

Now that the legislative session is in full swing, House committees and subcommittees are meeting, and our first pieces of legislation are being considered on the House Floor. We have until Feb. 17 to move bills out of an Appropriations & Budget subcommittee and until Feb.

Cashion dethrones Eagles in OT

When it comes to regular season crowns, Hennessey has been king of the Three Rivers Conference. Cashion finally found a way to dethrone the Eagles last week. T.J. Roberts’ putback with four seconds left in overtime helped propel Cashion to a 44-42 victory Wednesday at Hennessey.

Wilson hits milestone, Duffy shines in Lomega victory

Last Friday had the potential to be a banner night for Lomega’s Adysen Wilson. The junior was sitting 16 points shy of 1,000 career points, an attainable number since she averages around 20. However, Wilson realized on the way to Drummond that she’d taken the wrong jersey.

Crescent wins TRC; Battelo hits 1,000

Crescent standout Elizabeth Battelo saw limited action Tuesday, but still reached a career milestone. The junior point guard scored five points before “tweaking” her knee in the first half at Calumet.

2 Lomega FFA'ers are finalists for state office

Two of the seven state FFA officers for 2020-21 could be Lomega FFA members. Tate Ott and Whitney Glazier were selected from a field of 33 candidates as finalists for the offices of northwest area vice president and reporter, respectively, the state organization announced last week.

The second week of his last legislative session started with a bang for State Rep. Mike Sanders when he was named Kingfisher’s Citizen of the Year for 2020 at the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet Monday night.

Youth Tour '20 contest now open

Cimarron Electric Cooperative announced its 2020 Youth Tour Video Contest, the grand prize being a free trip to Washington, D.C.. The top three finalists will tour historic sites and national landmarks, meet Oklahoma’s congressional delegation, make new friends and more.
