The following article is the third in a series previewing expectations and goals for Kingfisher County and the state, from the perspective of local leaders and stakeholders. When the 2020 State Legislative session begins Feb. 3, Kingfisher’s State Rep. Mike Sanders and State Sen.

Bob Blackburn, executive director of the Oklahoma Historical Society, was the guest speaker of the Kingfisher Rotary Club last Tuesday. Blackburn, who will retire at the end of the year, said Kingfisher was his fi rst stop of his “farewell tour” across the state.

Kingfisher High School seniors Elizabeth Perdue and Wes Hine have been named the Junior Lions for January 2020. The honor is presented by the Kingfisher Lions Club. Perdue is the daughter of Jim and Debra Perdue.

The Altrua Club met Nov. 20, 2019, at the Chisholm Trail Museum. Members attending were Keri Bivins, Martha Burditt, Carolyn Flood, Dana Golbek, Jneanne Kadavy, Terri Peck, Julie Storm, Cheryl Wheelbarger, Dorothy Whitaker and Jowanna Sisk.

The last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the upcoming school board primary election is fast approaching. Primary elections will be held Feb. 11 in the Kingfisher and Piedmont school districts, both of which involve voters who live in Kingfi sher County.
