Helen Cline

Helen Rose Cline was born to Loren and Catherine Callahan Cline on Feb. 14, 1932, near Lacy. She died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at Hennessey Care Center. Her Valentine’s Day birthday was shared with her grandfather, J. A. (Art) Cline, and with her great-nephew Mitchell Mills.

Dale Choate

Dale Choate, 61, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at his home in Hennessey. Memorial services were 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 12, at Hennessey Public Schools Auditorium officiated by Rev. Dr. Don Rogers and Tony Steele. A private family interment will take place prior to the service.

Traffic accident

The following traffic accident is being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department.October 1, 7:45 p.m. - At 1200 block of South Main Street. Leon Hamilton, Jr., 72, Kingfisher, driving a 2002 Toyota, was northbound on South Main Street.

A man hugged and offered forgiveness to former police officer Amber Guyger after a Dallas jury sentenced her to 10 years in prison for killing his brother. Guyger, 31, shot and killed her neighbor, Botham Shem Jean, 27, in his Texas apartment while off duty in September 2018.

Columbus Day headed for extinction?

Columbus Day will be celebrated in Kingfisher County on Monday. Banks, city, county and state government offices will be closed on the holiday, following a long tradition. However, Washington, D.C.’s municipal government has abolished the holiday for which it was named – District of Columbia.

I am sure my habits will change when we actually get closer to the November, 2020 election. But currently, I rarely, if ever, watch any national news on television. Why? Because it depresses me.

All these threats to shoot up the school. One person threatened to make the Columbine, Colo., shooting look small. Someone else had a big stash of of weapons and ammo. I don’t understand all this. All this has come up in the last 10 years or so.
