G.O. bond bids under projections

Bids came in well under the projections Thursday for the general obligation bonds that are the first phase of construction that will lead to a new school building and parking lot for Kingfisher Public Schools.

Lane closure cemented by local truck accident

SOUTHBOUND LANES of U.S. 81 about a mile and a half north of Hennessey were closed for two hours and 35 minutes Thursday evening while this overturned cement truck was maneuvered back into an upright position.

KPS Students Wrap Up Walking Wednesdays

Students from Kingfisher’s Gilmour Elementary, Heritage and middle schools took part Oct. 2 in the final Walking Wednesday for the fall of 2019. The final session was held in conjunction with International Walk and Bike to School Day.

Hennessey board votes to apply for water line, other grants

Hennessey’s town board voted to apply for a $45,000 water line grant and an $18,730 library/history center preservation grant. Both grants require cash matches, the board was told at its Oct. 7 Town Hall meeting. Water Lines The $82,103.40 water line project calls for a $37,103.

KHS names September Students of the Month

Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for September 2019. Selected by the teachers were freshman Cash Slezickey, sophomore Laney Banther, junior Kase Simon and senior Harrison Themer.

Kingfisher Study Club holds first meeting of 2019-20 year

Kingfisher Study Club met Oct. 2 for brunch in First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall to begin the 2019-20 club year. President and co-hostess Melda Fischer welcomed 12 members and guest, Dana Golbek. Hostess Dawn Ann Mendenhall led the group in prayer before serving brunch.

4 KHS seniors are Rotary Club guests

Kingfisher Rotary Club hosted four Kingfisher High School senior guests at a recent meeting. Joining the civic club were Max Hartman, Samantha Martin, Angelina Slaten and Katrina McConnell. Hartman is the son of Chad and Leah Hartman.

Jack ‘Jackie’ Brinckmeyer

Lion PDG Jack (Jackie) Brinckmeyer, 88, of Rehoboth Beach and Harbeson, Dela., died Aug. 4, 2019. He was born Dec. 12, 1930, at the home of his parents Walter (Jack) and Zalpha Brinckmeyer of Loyal. Jack graduated from Loyal High School in May 1948.

Mary Ann Snethen

Mary Ann Snethen, 95, died Oct. 9, 2019, at Primrose Assisted Living Center in Stillwater. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Watkins officiating.
