Lily Lunsford showed a bantam female as Kingfisher County Fair poultry show open show champion and overall grand champion. Lester Yost’s male bantam male won overall reserve open champion.

Saidee Wright of Lomega 4-H showed the Supreme Champion animal in the dairy show at the Kingfisher County Fair. Mia Forman of Lomega Cloverbuds showed the reserve supreme champion. Showmanship winners were Ian Pope of Lomega Cloverbuds, junior, and Saidee Wright, senior.

“That’s certainly worth the $9 million,” said Hennessey High School senior Kaden Mitchell after touring the school’s under-construction Eagle Event Center Wednesday morning. He and 30 other HHS seniors were told that’s the official name of the Dome by Superintendent Dr. Mike Woods.

Along with a dramatic sound and light show, Monday night’s storms also brought more welcome rain, adding to small amounts that fell over the weekend. Cimarron Electric Cooperative’s storm related outages peaked at about1,600 customers at 9:30 p.m.

Kingfisher County commissioners accepted the low bids on two projects in District 1 at their weekly meeting Monday. They voted to approve a bid of $169,543.96 from Redlands Contracting to widen a bridge about one-eighth mile south of S.H.

A spokesperson for Texas-based Overflow Energy confirmed this week that her company is constructing a salt water disposal well at a site west of Kingfisher Cemetery on S.H. 33.

Local Faces in the news Brayden Foley of Kingfisher was formally inducted into the Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences Class of 2023 at a ceremony earlier this month.

Pvt. Blaine Nauman, formerly of Kingfisher, recently completed Army Basic Combat Training at Ft. Benning, Ga. He is the son of Alicia and Jason Rempe of Kingfisher and Jason and Randa Nauman of VanBuren Ark., and graduated from high school this past spring in VanBuren.
