Rotary Club hosts four KHS seniors

Kingfisher High School seniors Melody Wilfong, Jenna Mueggenborg, Jennifer Beebe and Hanna Matthews were guests of the Kingfisher Rotary Club last week. Wilfong is the daughter of Chris and Ellen Wilfong. She’s active in FCA, student council, Spanish Club, basketball, tennis and vocal.

Suttle addition made at Okarche dentistry

Okarche local Dr. Jonathan Suttle returns to his hometown as a dentist to join his father, Dr. Gary Suttle, in practice at Suttle Dentistry. The addition comes as the clinic continues to grow and expand to serve Okarche, Kingfisher and surrounding communities.

KCDCA hosting series of group support meets

The Kingfisher County Drug Court Alumni (KCDCA) will be hosting a 12-step support group meeting beginning next month. The meeting series is called “Never Alone” and will be held the first and third Tuesday of each month at 101 N. 6th St. in Kingfisher. The first meeting will be Sept.

KHS settles for 2nd in 33 Classic

A repeat wasn’t in the books for Kingfisher’s softball team, but that didn’t make the Lady Jackets’ showing in the Highway 33 Classic an unsuccessful one. Chisholm defeated KHS 3-0 Saturday to claim the tournament championship. It was the third straight year the teams have met for the title.

Cashion at Drumright

WEEK 0 7 p.m. Friday With 20 returning starters, the Wildcats begin a quest in 2019 that many feel will have them contending for the Class A gold ball. This week’s game doesn’t figure to hurt that quest, but it may not provide a ton of answers, either.

Crescent at Woodland

7 p.m. Friday Crescent has dominated this contest in recent years, including last year’s 39-20 home win. Both teams missed the playoffs last year, so an early win will be a positive start for the victor.

Bigger tests ahead for KHS football

Things went mostly as expected when Kingfisher and Casady hooked up last Friday for the first football scrimmage of the year. “I’d say that’s about right,” head coach Jeff Myers said of the annual trip to Oklahoma City to take on the private-schooled Cyclones.
