City officials rehired

Kingfisher city commissioners voted unanimously Monday night to approve a new three-year contract for City Manager Dave Slezickey at a salary of $125,000 per year, plus benefits.

So what the heck is a LANDSPOUT?

Without an official storm chaser or manic TV weather man in sight, photographs and videos of multiple ominous funnels appearing west of Kingfisher were blowing up so cial media Sunday afternoon. So were they tornadoes? Well, technically, yes, but not in the traditional Oklaho ma sense.

New city park plans progressing

The Newfield Community Park has been approved for creation under a grant to the City of Kingfisher using federal funds from the National Park Service and under the direction of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department, said John Gooden, Kingfisher Trails Inc. president.

Silver Spade winner a work of art

Jackie Jones’ “artistic endeavor” was recognized by the Kingfisher Lions Club as the winning yard for the June Silver Spade Award. For Jones, gardening serves as a hobby, passion, creative outlet and form of exercise. “Each year I get to paint a new picture,” said Jones.

‘Battle of the Banks’ blood drive is next week

To keep the blood supply strong through the summer months, Oklahoma Blood Institute needs Kingfisher residents to make donation a priority.   An All-American blood drive  sponsored by InterBank, NBC Oklahoma, F&M Bank and BancFirst will occur next week.

KCREA makes plans for year
