Kingfisher’s success on the baseball diamond has helped result in two players being named All-State selections for the first time in the program’s history.

The Oklahoma Coaches Association last week made official what Peyton Burns had already locked up on the course. Burns’ name was on the list last week when the OCA announced the 2019 All-State golf teams.

Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for April 2019. Selected by the teachers were freshman Brenden Hill, sophomore Kase Simon, junior Hannah Wittrock and senior Noah Banther. Hill is the son of Cary Hill and Karen Hottel.

Kingfisher High School seniors said goodbye to their secondary school experience at Saturday’s graduation ceremony. Cashion and Okarche seniors will be the last in the county to graduate, with ceremonies at both schools set Friday, at 7 p.m. for Cashion at the high school gym and 8 p.m.

Success within the Kingfisher FFA Chapter is not uncommon at the state, or even the national level.

A Kingfisher man jailed since October for allegedly shooting his brother-in-law was released Wednesday when District Judge Paul Woodward reduced his total bonds from $110,000 to $51,000 on the condition that he immediately enter alcohol treatment.

If you’re frustrated that votes you cast in state elections don’t result in your intended outcomes, don’t blame elected officials, a state constitutional scholar said Wednesday.

Richard Raupe, long-time Okarche mayor and town administrator since February 2016, has been dismissed. After a majority on the board changed in 2019 elections, members have voted to end Raupe’s employment and eliminated the position.

Gilmour Elementary School recognizes its students throughout the year for every 250,000 words they read. Three of those students were recently presented awards at Jacket Roundup. On the left is second grader Hagen Owens, who has read 1,250,000 for the school year.
