Cashion claims 4 golds at Okeene

A quartet of Cashion High School athletes brought home gold medals from last week’s Whippet Relays track meet in Okeene. Three of the medalists were in the girls meet, helping the Lady Wildcats to a third-place finish.

Burns’ balancing act

There’s a hectic life and then there’s Peyton Burns’ life. Last week alone, the Kingfisher High School senior traveled 1,954 miles to take part in golf and FFA competitions.

KHS wins Edward Jones

Cole Crosswhite quieted Piedmont’s bats to bring Kingfisher another Edward Jones Invitational championship. Crosswhite shutout the Wildcats in an 8-0 KHS win at Homier Field in Saturday’s championship game that ended three days of action at two sites.

Pitching ‘small ball’ lift KHS past Tuttle

Kingfisher used a lot of small ball to get itself in great position to win a district baseball championship. The Jackets employed multiple bunts, squeeze plays and steals Monday night to earn a 7-1 win at Tuttle in a pivotal District 4A-2 matchup.

OCS wins loaded tournament

Three reigning state champs were among the 18 teams battling it out Monday for the Kingfisher High School Boys Large School Invitational Golf Tournament title. In the end, it was the defending 3A king Oklahoma Christian School who went home with the crown.

UPDATE: Police say suspect admits dismembering, burning body

A Kingfisher man was arrested on a second-degree murder complaint Friday afternoon after he allegedly told investigators he dismembered, attempted to burn and buried his girlfriend’s body in the backyard of their Kingfisher home, Police Chief Dennis Baker said.
