Rotary hosts trio of KHS seniors

Kingfisher High School seniors Brooklyn Whipple, Aubrey Deatherage and Baleigh Brickman were guests last Tuesday of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Whipple is the daughter of Jay and Shavone Whipple. She’s active in basketball, soccer, tennis, FFA, FCA and the Mercy Student Governing Board.

Sts. P&P Altar Society covers busy agenda in April meeting

The Sts. Peter and Paul Altar Society met in the Annex at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3. The meeting was called to order by President Irene Garrett. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the opening prayer was led by Vice President Barbara Rice.

Plainview HCE meets in Diesselhorst home

Plainview HCE held its monthly meeting Monday, March 11, in the home of Sheila Diesselhorst. Dana Golbek, president, brought the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. Members recited pledges to the American and Oklahoma flags, followed by the devotion. Roll call was taken and reading of minutes.

Omega HCE to meet this week

Omega Home and Community will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11. The meeting will be held at Optimize Living Wellness Center, 212 N. Main St., in Kingfisher. Ashley Neal will host.

20 outstanding Hennesseyites to be honored at April 11 event

The Hennessey United Association’s annual Red Carpet Night will recognize 20 outstanding citizens and members of community service and social clubs at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11.It will be held in the Hennessey Public Library’s Ortman Auditorium on Main Street.

County trio are OCA All-State

Trey Green and Jett Sternberger will get to be basketball teammates at least one more time. The Kingfisher High School seniors were among those selected Wednesday to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State basketball team.

Kamas battles emotions to win

Maddi Kamas was trying to think of birdies, but couldn’t keep her mind off her dog. As tough as it was, the Kingfisher High School sophomore fought through the Oklahoma wind, a solid field of golfers and even a few tears to put together perhaps her best round of the season.
