About 75 people attended Hennessey United’s “Red Carpet Night” at The Merc on Thursday night.The annual event provides organizations in Hennessey the opportunity to recognize their top volunteers and/or members for the year.Scott Hajek, president of the nonprofit, was the emcee for the evening.

Pioneer annual meeting

Pioneer Telephone Cooperative will host its 72nd annual meeting soon.This year’s event will be Tuesday, May 6, at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building.Customers- members should receive an annual report from Pioneer in the mail.It will contain registration information for the meeting.

Jackets grab pair of wins at 89er

Kingfisher doubled its win total over the weekend by going 2-1 at the Guthrie 89er Tournament.The Jackets won the first game of a double-header on Thursday by downing Perry 10-8.After suffering a 12-7 setback later that day to the OKC Broncos, they came back Friday for a 9-4 win over Chickasha.

KHS girls top Weatherford for team title at Watonga

A true team effort saw Kingfisher’s girls bring home the team title from last Friday’s Watonga Invitational track and field meet.On top of medaling in all four relays, there were nine different Lady Jackets who earned medals in individual events.That saw KHS score 132.

Andra Lea Fischer, 48, passed away April 17, 2025, at her home in Piedmont.She was born on May 19, 1976, in Kingfisher to Kenneth and Phyllis (Larimer) Fischer.

Roy McNaught, Jr.

Roy Nelson McNaught, Jr., 90, died Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Chicago, Ill.Roy was born June 24, 1934, in Kingfisher to Roy Nelson McNaught, Sr., and Alice (Perdue) McNaught.He attended Kingfisher Public Schools and excelled in music as an accomplished trumpet player.
