It was an almost perfect day for golf and the scores backed it up.Ten golfers shot under- par and the tournament scoring record went down Wednesday at the Kingfi sher Large School Boys Invitational.Ben Lathrop of Heritage Hall shot an 8-under-par 62 to capture medalist honors.

Kingfisher stayed unbeaten in district action with a mercy rule win Tuesday and has its eyes set on a bigger matchup this weekend.KHS downed Millwood 10-0 at home to improve to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in District 3A-2 games.

Copeland is new KPS board president

For the first time in a decade, Carly Franks was not a member of the Kingfisher Board of Education.Franks served on the board for the last time during the March meeting and her seat was filled at Monday’s April regular meeting by Bill Reitz.

Lightning damages wind turbine

Lightning was the apparent cause of a fire that damaged a wind turbine northeast of Dover early Friday morning.Dover Fire Department responded to a fire call at about 5:45 a.m., according to Chief Jeff Johnson.
