County looks into possible sick leave sharing policy for employees

Kingfisher County commissioners agreed Monday to look into creating a county-wide time bank for all county employees.District 2 Commissioner Michael Sparks suggested the plan.He said it could provide assistance to employees facing difficulty due to injury or sickness.

County sales tax vote this month

County voters are being asked on Nov. 18 to once again pass a one-half cent sales tax to continue to fund a multitude of county services.If approved, it will extend the sales tax for another five years.It was originally approved in 1991.

Virginia Frances (Fite) Hellwege, 92, beloved longtime resident of Kingfisher, passed away peacefully on Oct. 22, 2025, at Great Plains Medical Center in Elk City.Virginia was born Aug. 1, 1933, at home on the family farm a mile south of Brinkman to Leo Francis and Iva Maude Ella Hood Fite.

The beautifully-lived life of John Henry Hopkins, Jr., of Kingfisher came to an earthly end on Oct. 25, 2025.Born in a farm home near Cashion on July 16, 1932, he was the son of John Henry Hopkins, Sr., and Esther Viola Best Hopkins.
