Oklahoma needs to cut the red tape

Oklahoma is known as a conservative state, but you wouldn’t know it from the number of regulations imposed.In its “Snapshots of State Regulations” report, the Mercatus Center at George Mason University ranked Oklahoma 17th nationally in the number of regulatory restrictions imposed.

Fake $100 bills found in Hennessey; being sent to lab for testing

Authorities are still searching for the source and objective of fake money found in Hennessey over the weekend.“We still don’t know if this was a prank, or what someone’s intentions were,” Hennessey Police Chief Aaron Pitts told the KT&FP Tuesday morning about fake $100 bills found in Hennessey.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated the following report: September 17 - Public intoxication and disturbing the peace.Officer Kejuan Joseph responded to a report of a disturbance in the 1100 block of South 11th Street.

Concrete poured for city & trails projects

John Gooden has announced progress on the Kingfisher Trails projects, as concrete trails are being poured along Overstreet Avenue, west of 13th Street from the Stonebrook addition, with completion predicted this week, weather permitting.
MMS Construction & Paving, owned and operated by Shawn Scammahorn of Kingfi sher, was busy pouring concrete for two projects this week. In the photo above, concrete was poured for walkways at Shaw Park on Oklahoma Avenue for the City of Kingfi sher. The upgrade also featured new changing and restroom facilities for the Kingfi sher Splash Pad located at the park. Bob Bollenbach of Bollenbach Construction of Kingfi sher managed that construction project.

KPS Estimate of Needs Rejected by Excise Board

Kingfisher County Excise Board members Michelle Miller, Jim Wittrock and Jim Berkenbile unanimously rejected the Kingfisher Public Schools estimate of needs (budget) of $16,200,523.75 for the 2024-25 school year and instead approved an estimate of needs of $14,203,959.
