Blistering heat and high humidity made life unpleasant for animals and people alike during the tailend of June.The month ended with .78 inch of moisture compared to 3.88 inches in June 2023.Temperatures routinely climbed above 100 degrees during the month with highs of 106 on June 26 and June 29.

Nall waives preliminary hearing

Former Kingfisher High School football coach Micah Nall was set to have his preliminary hearing at the same time last week as Jeff Myers.However, prior to the hearing beginning, Nall waived his right to the hearing and will be formally arraigned at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3.

A judge decided Thursday that former Kingfisher High School football coach Jeff Myers will not be bound over for trial on the felony child neglect charge he’s been facing since last October.

Horn headed to Okarche

A longtime Kingfisher band director is making a short move to the south.Dakota Horn was among those to tender a resignation with the school district last week.He has accepted the same position at Okarche. That board of education approved his hiring Thursday during a special meeting.

Hennessey 4th of July events at Aquatic Park

8 a.m. and 9 a.m. — The Great Race sponsored by the Hennessey Lions Club. Contestants should meet at 8 a.m. on the back side of the elementary school’s playground and must sign up in advance at Town Hall.
