The Kingfisher County Health Department announces the opening of the Kingfisher Farmers Market for the season from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 4.It will be located on the lot at 505 N. Main St. in Kingfisher.

Dover Cemetery has 2 work days scheduled this month

There are two scheduled work days planned this month at Dover Cemetery.The work days are 8 a.m. to noon this Saturday, May 4, as well as Saturday, May 18.Needed work items are gloves, rakes, hoes, shovels, weed eaters, wheel barrows and more as the cemetery prepares for Memorial Day weekend.

Residents living in and around Kingfisher can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening.Kingfisher Church of the Nazarene, 414 Hill Drive, will host this community event on May 24.

Okarche town trustees fired Police Chief Forrest Smith near the end of a special meeting last Tuesday.The move was made after more than three hours in executive session and came by way of a 4-1 vote.Voting for the move were Jon Alig, Jeff Brueggen, Jason Kroener and J.D. Mueggenborg.
