One of the traditions Chief Tony Stewart wanted to bring back to Kingfisher Fire Department was a public ceremony to commemorate the promotions of his firemen.

Kingfisher County commissioners got in some overtime over the weekend.All three responded to grass fires in Cimarron River pastures – one northeast of Kingfisher and the other near Lacey in the northwest corner of the county.

At the urging of State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters, the Oklahoma State Board of Education members Thursday took a first step in revoking the teaching certificate of two former Kingfisher coaches.The move was made during the board’s February meeting.

The annual Lenten Community Service series sponsored by the Kingfisher Ministerial Alliance continue this week and will run through March 27.Each of the weekly services – with the exception of the final service on March 27 – will begin at noon and will be held at Frontline Ministries, 124 W. Erwin.
