County declares multiple items as surplus

Kingfisher County commissioners approved resolutions Monday disposing of unneeded equipment belonging to the sheriff’s office and Kingfisher Fire Department.The sheriff’s office equipment included radio and computer equipment, which is being replaced with a county-wide communications system.

The Lomega FFA has had an amazing start to the year.There were various members that participated in local, county, state and national shows with sheep, hogs, cattle, chickens and dairy cattle this last fall.

The judge contemplates his decision for grand champion during the 2024 Kingfisher County Spring Livestock Show on Sunday. Sheep and goats were exhibited on Sunday. Beef took center stage on Monday and then the show wrapped up Tuesday with swine. The bidders’ feed and premium sale will be held Feb.

Kingfisher High School senior Chloe Blair was recently selected as one of the finalists for a state FFA office.Blair is among three candidates to serve as northwest area vice president for the 2024-25 Oklahoma FFA officer team.

Parents love making the sale.Students love winning the swag. That’s how Mandy McDonald of Kingfisher succinctly summed up exhibiting livestock.“To the parents, making the sale is a big deal because that is where you can recoup some of your money,” said McDonald.“To the kids, the swag is important.

Local book club to meet next Monday

Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club will meet Monday, Feb. 26, at the Farm Bureau Insurance Building, 117 W. Sheridan Ave., Kingfisher.Dutch treat lunch is $10 and will be served at 11:30 am. followed by a presentation by Tracy Deshazo, who will review “The In-Between.
