Having your congressman serve as the chairman of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee can pay off.It certainly did Monday for students at Kingfisher High School.Students took part in a NASA program that allowed them to interact with astronauts on the International Space Station.

Donate blood and ‘beef’ up

Kingfisher County voters on Tuesday gave a thumbs up to continuing to fund county road and bridge projects.A proposition to extend a half-cent sales tax for another five years was approved by a 69.57% to 30.43% margin.

Kingfisher’s board of education held a special meeting Wednesday in conjunction with a court-ordered settlement conference in the civil lawsuit filed by a former student and football player.The conference lasted about six hours at the United States District Courthouse in Oklahoma City.

Semi strikes and damages Broadway Avenue overpass

East Broadway Avenue in Kingfisher was temporarily shut down Friday night after a semi-truck damaged the overpass.According to a report from the Kingfisher Police Department, a 2016 Peterbilt semi hauling a trailer was westbound on East Broadway, which is also State Highway 33.
