High school actors, singers, writers, dancers, visual artists, filmmakers, musicians and photographers are invited to apply and audition for the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain (OSAI), Oklahoma’s one-of-a-kind arts education program.

The International Academic Competitions Oklahoma Regionals were held on Feb. 3 at Kingfisher Upper Elementary.There were students ranging from second through eighth grades competing from Kingfisher as well as from Stillwater, Drummond, Rolla, Kan., and Lawler, Texas.

Five Kingfisher High School seniors were guests recently at a meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club.Joining the local civic group were Kyle Borelli, Tristun Burnham, Judson Birdwell, Cade Cooper and Braden Eaton.Borelli is the son of Greg and Vaynna Borelli.

The largest employer in Kingfisher has announced it is dropping one of its major lines of business.Pioneer Telephone Cooperative on Friday confi rmed that it is discontinuing it cellular operations, Pioneer Cellular.

Dawn Terrell and Debbie Burpo will be new Kingfisher city commissioners while Hennessey and Okarche voters will decide who fills some of their municipal seats.Filing ended Wednesday evening for positions in Kingfisher, Hennessey, Dover and Okarche.

Hennessey trustees told QR code program will promote the town

More signage and handout costs for a “Welcome to Hennessey” promotion were approved by town trustees at their Thursday night meeting.Jack Quirk presented his company’s plan using QR code signs on Main Street, in parks, at The Hennessey Event Center (aka The Dome) and other sites.
