Reid speaks to county’s retired educators

Farmerettes hold meeting

The Hennessey Farmerettes met Jan. 13 at the Wellness Mercantile in Hennessey for the group’s first gathering of 2022.President Dot Miller opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and leading the Pledge of Allegiance.The devotion was given by Pansy Wheeler.

Book club cancels January gathering

Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club has canceled the meeting it planned next week.The meeting was originally scheduled Monday, Jan. 24.According to Club President Carol Kooken, “It is hoped that meetings will resume Feb. 28.”

Hennessey trustees approve new pay scale

In a 3-1 vote, Hennessey’s town trustees approved a 10-step employee pay scale that would take effect July 1 and then passed it 4-0 when the same four members met as the Hennessey Utilities Authority.

County swamped by surge

Like other locations across the state and nation, Kingfisher County is riding a surge in COVID-19 cases that is slamming health care providers, canceling events and closing some schools, businesses and government offices.

Supreme Court blocks mandate
