Southeastern Oklahoma State University will honor three distinguished alumni during homecoming festivities October 15-16. Among them is a Lomega High School alumnus. This year’s honorees are Bill Brock, Greg Duffy and Mike Metheny. Duffy graduated from Lomega in 1969 and later from SEOSU in 1973.

BOYS STATE RECAP – Kingfisher’s Jared Harrison recently recapped the Oklahoma American Legion Boys State week with members of the Kingfisher Lions Club. Kingfisher annually sends one of the state’s larger contingents to the program, which currently takes place in Miami.

One man was killed and another seriously injured last Monday in a two-vehicle accident south of Crescent. Kim L. Flatt, 32, of Stroud, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the Crescent Fire Department, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

There have been several recent reports of an infestation of armyworms in local yards and pastures. Kingfisher County Extension Director-Agriculture Educator Bryan Kennedy confirmed the worms are indeed a problem recently, locally and beyond.

Kingfisher Lions Clubs members recently heard from one of the international leaders in the soil health movement. Jimmy Emmons, of Leedey recently spoke to the local civic group about regenerative farming, which includes increasing the amount of organic matter in the soil, making it healthier.

New Kingfisher Superintendent Dr. Daniel Craig, left, was the guest speaker at a recent meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Craig, a 1989 KHS graduate, told members about his college and professional ventures since leaving Kingfisher and his first couple of months back in his hometown.
