The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: July 22 - Obtain money/property with false negotiable paper. Officer Jeffrey Robbins responded to a report of counterfeit money being used to purchase goods at Walmart, 200 Starlite Drive.

Not even a major setback could keep Katon Lunsford from shining at the state’s Distinguished Young Women program. The Kingfisher High School senior won three portions of the contest, earned another individual honor and was the second runner-up last Saturday night at Owasso.

A two-hour meeting of the Kingfisher Board of Education last week ended with members voting to hire 20 new staff members. The board also approved pay scales for extra-duty assignments and support staff. There were no changes to the pay scales for either from last year.

Kingfisher school board members met with the district superintendent and an attorney for nearly 90 minutes during a Thursday special meeting. The consultation was during an executive session, which began shortly after President Dana Golbek called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
