Okarche didn’t lead for long.But the Lady Warriors did lead when it mattered most.Logan White’s bucket with 5 seconds left on Friday lifted Okarche to a 35-33 victory over visiting Seiling, one that seemed improbable most of the night.

When Okarche lost backto- back games in late January and early February 2024, coach Aaron West had a message for the local sports reporter.“We will get it fixed,” he wrote in a text, almost apologizing for the losses.Whatever was broken did in fact get fixed…and there hasn’t been a breakdown since.

Sheppard wins weight class, leads Jackets to runner-up

Three Yellowjackets reached the finals and one secured gold over the weekend at the Kingfisher High School Invitational wrestling tournament.That showing was pivotal in the Jackets earning runner-up honors in the team standings.KHS scored 261.5 points, falling just shy of champion Hobart’s 265.5.

Price wins gold for KHS girls; team finishes 4th

Erika Price’s gold medal led Kingfisher to a fourthplace finish last weekend in the Kingfisher High School Invitational wrestling tournament.Price won the bracket that spanned three weight classes – 105, 110 and 115 pounds.

Lomega downs Broncs in home conference games

Lomega started the game on fire Tuesday and rode it to a 75-38 home win over Kremlin-Hillsdale.The Raiders hit five of their 10 3-pointers in the first quarter.That helped get them to a 13-point lead they never lost.

Gajewski speaks at Rotary Club

Oklahoma State University softball coach Kenny Gajewski was the guest speaker at Tuesday’s meeting of the Kingfi sher Rotary Club. Among those in the audience were some future Kingfi sher High School softball players (and who knows...maybe future Cowgirls).

Longhorns thump Garber 61- 26 to stay undefeated

Dover stayed unbeaten in the Skeltur Conference - and on the season - with a dominant home performance against Garber.The Longhorns put the clamps on the Wolverines on Tuesday in a 61-26 victory.That moved Dover to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Sweep carries HHS teams into holiday break

A balanced scoring attack allowed the Hennessey Eagles to enter the holiday break on a high note.Four Eagles scored in double figures Tuesday as they came home from Newkirk with a 64-43 victory.Hennessey is 2-4 entering the break and returns Jan. 6 with a game at Crescent.

Jackets complete sweep of Tuttle

The game always seemed in hand, but Kingfisher also couldn’t put Tuttle away.That became evident to start the second half when the Tigers opened with a 7-0 run to tie the game.

Dominant 2nd quarter leads KHS past Tuttle

It took two timeouts and nearly a full quarter, but Kingfisher finally got something going against Tuttle.The result on Tuesday was a 45-34 victory for the Lady Jackets at the APB in their final game before the Christmas holiday.
