State 4-H Roundup puts club members in spotlight

Oklahoma 4-H’ers were in the spotlight during the 104th State 4-H Roundup as they took center stage with workshops, contests, district rallies and more.More than 750 club members and adults gathered on the Oklahoma State University campus for the biggest 4-H event of the year on July 23-25.

Wehrenberg family holds annual reunion in Loyal

Fifty-two relatives and guests of the WC Wehrenberg family gathered on July 26 at the Loyal Evangelical Church to celebrate their heritage.In 1901, Chas Wehrenberg, who had immigrated from Germany in 1869 and settled in Illinois, scouted out Oklahoma Indian territory for farms for his four boys.

The traffic returned to 13th Street on Thursday and the drop-off lines were full of vehicles. That can only mean one thing. School has started in Kingfisher. That was the case as the hallways and classes were full of students and teachers across all five of Kingfisher Public Schools’ campuses.

Collision claims life of Norman man

A Norman teenager died Wednesday in an automobile accident that shut down a portion of State Highway 33 for more than eight hours.Pronounced dead from injuries suffered in the accident was Kaleb B. Parsons, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

This is not our first rodeo

Calling all cowboys and cowgirls.It’s time to get your entries in for the 68th annual Kingfisher Rodeo.The rodeo is set for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 15-16, at Kingfisher Roundup Club Arena.Entries can be completed online through the NEXTGEN rodeo app and are due by 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10.

KCEM command center bids opened

Kingfisher County commissioners opened six bids on an emergency management command center, ranging from $232,179.99 to $377,706, and voted to close the courthouse Friday and possibly Monday due to completion of the work to upgrade electrical service to the courthouse.

There were tons of cool cars at this year’s Kingfi sher Chamber of Commerce Kool Cars & Chrome Show held last Saturday. There were 103 of them, in fact. However, there was a lot more added to this year’s event.
