Cashion entered two runners in the Class 2A girls cross country regional on Saturday at Bridge Creek.

Both are headed to state…and both with an extra medal.

Hattie Wood placed fourth and Lyla Sloan 10th in the two-mile race.

The runners qualified for state in two different ways.

Medals are awarded to the top 15 runners at every regional and those runners automatically qualify.

Also, in 2A, the top 12 individuals from non-qualifying teams move on.

Wood and Sloan checked both boxes.

Wood completed the course in 13:12.79 while Sloan did so in 13:56.67.

Helen Wickersham of Oklahoma Christian Academy won the regional title with a time of 13:01.87.

Cole Baustert matched Wood and Sloan in the boys’ race.

Baustert placed 10th to punch his state ticket.

He ran the 5K course in 18:17.79.

Minco’s Mason Duvall was the regional champ in 17:18.45.

Also for Cashion, Judson Graham placed 32nd, but fell just short of qualifying for state. He finished in 19:56.76.

Arlan Cates was 66th in 22:34.73 and Hayden Green 76th in 23:50.79.
