Lomega Jr. 4-H Club members win high honors at quiz bowl

Two teams made up of Lomega 4-H Club members were able to capture the first and second place rankings at the combined Kingfisher and Blaine County Bi-County Livestock Quiz Bowl contest held in early February at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds.

I’m gonna try to get a few ramblin’s for the Wednesday edition of the paper, since y’all have gone digital for the Sunday paper. It seems like our great republic has turned into a communist country, however things are not what they seem.

Dover baseball hosting dinner

Dover’s baseball program is hosting a fundraiser on Thursday. A taco dinner will be served in the school cafeteria from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Cost is a donation, which will benefi t the junior high and high school baseball programs. For more information, see the ad on this page.

Kingfisher had two wrestlers qualify Saturday for the state tournament and just missed out on a third. But that was just the half of it. The team returned Monday and saw two more make their way into the state brackets. Gant Browning is a state qualifier at 106 pounds and Rhylee Toepfer at 120.

Karlee Harviston came up big in the first half and in the fourth quarter. Yareli Obeso was huge in the third. Together, they helped the Dover Lady Longhorns pull within one win of a Class B area tournament. Dover defeated Glencoe 41-33 Monday in the regional consolation semifinal at Agra.

Lady Warriors avenge Thomas loss

Okarche earned a bit of payback and also secured its spot in the area tournament in one night. The Lady Warriors bested Thomas 50-45 at home Saturday in their Class A regional winner’s bracket matchup. The win put Okarche into the regional final Tuesday night (after press time) against Woodland.

Webbers Falls puts end to Dover boys season, 63-42

The Dover boys staved off elimination once. They didn’t have another one in them. Dover’s season ended Monday with a 63-42 loss to Webbers Falls in their Class B regional consolation semifinal at Agra.

A second-half surge helped propel the Lomega Raiders into their regional championship game. Lomega outscored Wesleyan Christian by 22 points in the second half to pull away for a 71-42 victory Saturday in Agra.
