Willie Javan Walls, 74, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020. He was born in Taft, Calif., on Feb. 11, 1946. He grew up in Bakersfield, Calif., before moving to Doniphan, Mo., to live with his grandmother Betty Lawson and uncle Gomer Lawson, helping on the farm.

Local junior high cross country teams wrapped up their seasons Oct. 15 at the 27th annual Oklahoma Junior High All-Star Cross Country Championships at Chickasha. From a team perspective, the Kingfisher girls and Hennessey girls were among the top performers.
