Do Colorado patriots’ lives matter? On a sunny Saturday afternoon, after gathering with Benghazi Marine hero John “Tig” Tiegen at Civic Center Plaza in Denver to show pride in America, hundreds of citizens departed a peaceful “Patriot Muster” feeling inspired.

Crews are nearing completion of a project to replace 19 fire hydrants throughout Kingfisher. The city commission last Tuesday unanimously approved the final invoice for installing the hydrants, which came in slightly over initial projections.

Kingfisher Lions Club was host to a pair of distinguished seniors last Thursday. Kingfisher High School’s Cora Beth Taylor and Ian Daugherty were named the October 2020 Junior Lions and were guests of the civic club at its weekly meeting. Taylor is the daughter of Kevin and Beth Taylor.

Producers in Kingfisher County are eligible to apply for 2020 Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) benefits on native pasture and improved pasture.

A local health official was on hand last week to tell Kingfisher Lions Club members about a new program that promotes workplace wellness.

The Altrua Club met Sept. 16, at the Chisholm Trail Museum. Members present were Keri Bivins, Carolyn Flood, Dana Golbek, Jneanne Kadavy, Jeanette Kloeppel, Terri Peck, Sue Robinson, Jowanna Sisk, Cheryl Wheelbarger and Dorothy Whitaker.

The Hennessey Farmerette Extension Club held its October meeting Oct. 8 at the First Christian Church in Hennessey. The meeting was called to order by Vice President Lillie Rourke, who led the flag salute. The devotion, “Devotion Day of Encouragement,” was given by Mary Curry.

Hannah and Adam Post of Chandler announce the birth of their son, Lincoln Ray. Lincoln was born on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, in Edmond. He weighed 8 pounds 1 ounce and measured 21 inches. Maternal grandparents are Lynn and Desmond Barnett of Kingfisher.

On the third and final day of confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, senators revisited some issues covered the day before but also detoured into a president’s ability to pardon himself and the high court’s resolution of the 2000 presidential election.
