The funeral for Dorothy Jean Hawk, 91, was Friday, Sept. 25, at First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. P. J. Stewart and Jimmy Berkenbile. Burial will follow at Lyon Valley Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. Dorothy was born in Hennessey on Feb.

Walter Reherman

Walter Charles Reherman passed away at the age of 88 on Sept. 21, 2020. Walter was born Oct. 22, 1931, in Okarche to Emil and Marguerite Reherman. Walter attended Oklahoma A&M from 1951-1953. Thereafter, he served in the United States Air Force for four years.

A come-from-behind win Thursday kept the Kingfisher softball team in the hunt for a conference championship. The Lady Jackets scored two runs in the fifth inning to take a lead they wouldn’t lose in a 4-3 victory over Chisholm.

Longhorns sweep district

It wasn’t exactly the way Dylan Blundell planned it, but the Dover baseball coach isn’t going to turn down a district championship. The Longhorns swept Cimarron 13-1 and 14-4 Thursday at home to earn a Class B district title and advance to this week’s regional.

County to oversee 911 after board dissolves

Kingfisher County commissioners accepted county 911 board duties at their meeting Monday. The board of directors for the countywide emergency calling service dissolved at its last meeting, District 3 County Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny reported.

Cashion’s Lynn Shackelford faced a big decision on the very first play of the fourth quarter. His team faced a 4th-and-goal from the opponent’s 2-yard-line. A touchdown meant a two-score lead over visiting Thomas. A field goal would have still been worth a 10-point advantage.

The Turkey Creek Classic turned into a dominant performance for the Kingfisher girls cross country teams. Both the high school and junior high girls teams took first place Saturday in their respective races at Turkey Creek Golf Course in Hennessey.
