Double -cropping benefits told

Recent rains across much of Oklahoma have been timely for producers looking to plant another crop in their fields after harvesting wheat.

John Allen Mitchell was born Oct. 11, 1934, on a farm northeast of Dover to Charles E. and Clara A. Mitchell. He passed away Friday, June 26, 2020, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 85. John graduated from Dover High School in 1952.

Joan Quintle Westhoff

Joan Elaine (Quintle) Westhoff died at the age of 75 on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in Plano, Texas, due to complications of cancer. Joan was born on June 19, 1945, in Kingfisher, to Ed and Louise Quintle. Joan graduated from Omega High School in 1963.

Robert ‘Bob’ Kunau

Robert Louis “Bob” Kunau was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Loyal to Verla and Harry Kunau. He joined his loved ones in Heaven on Saturday, June 27, 2020, while at his home in Kingfisher. Bob and his family lived in the Loyal area on a farm until he was 9 years old.

Nicholas ‘Nick’ VanDenDriessche

Nicholas Scott “Nick” VanDenDriessche was born July 12, 1968, in Charlotte, Mich, to Linda Cochran and James Michael “Big Jim” VanDenDriessche. He passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 51.

Election Tuesday; voting started

Early voting is under way for the June 30 primary and special elections. Registered voters could cast ballots from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingfisher County Courthouse. The election concludes at regular polling places from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Good friends Mark Collins of Leedey and Max Vincent of Dover were moved to tears and long hugs Wednesday after their $61,500 win in the first-ever Cactus 10.5 Over 40 roping during Wrangler BFI Week at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie.

HPS OKs $156K thermal cameras as campus COVID-19 precaution

Hennessey’s school board approved a purchase for 14 thermal imaging cameras due to the COVID-19 virus to detect someone with a high temperature.The school has had two staffers confirmed to have the COVID-19 virus this month.
