The 2020 Oklahoma State Fair has been canceled “due to the evolving COVID-19 health crisis,” organizers announced Friday afternoon.

One of the talking points of the pro-S.Q. 802 crowd is that expanding Medicaid and obtaining the federal money offered to join the Obamacare program will create an economic boom in the state. That is delusional. Call it fake news if you like.

While in the drivethrough line at the Chickfil-A I kept time on the steering wheel to the music with my credit card. Then suddenly the card went flying. It wasn’t in my lap. Not on the other seat, or on the floorboards. I felt between the seats. Ew-w-w-w! Crumbs. Something sticky.

Leadership Oklahoma recently announced Blake Callaham of Pioneer Telephone Cooperative has been selected to participate in its 34th class. The members of the class were selected from applicants throughout the state.

Kingfisher Board of Education will wrap up the fiscal year with a meeting this week. The meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 30.

Holy Trinity Catholic School in Okarche welcomed new principal Alice Newman earlier this month. A native of southwest Oklahoma, Newman has 27 years of teaching experience and a master’s degree in school administration.

Cashion is once again planning a large Independence Day celebration. The town’s second annual Boom Fest will be held Friday, July 3, at Cashion High School. Festivities are planned from 6-10 p.m.
