Telethon raises over $500,000 at Center of Family Love

The Center of Family Love (CFL) raised over $500,000 last Saturday night with its live streamed telethon event. The event replaced the organization’s seventh an nual Gift of Love Gala, which has raised over $1 million each of the past two years. CFL resident Patti C.

So much for that proposed burn ban

The temporary burn ban that county commissioners had been expected to proclaim at their meeting Monday has been called off after plentiful rain fell over the weekend. Rainfall measuring up to 3.3 inches could hardly have arrived in a more timely manner.

Couple charged with child abuse

A Kingfisher husband and wife were charged Tuesday with felony child abuse in Kingfisher County District Court for periodically caging two intellectually disabled boys in a homemade cage in a closet in their home. Joel Lowes, 69, was charged with four counts of felony child abuse.

Coronavirus count surges; state, county numbers up

Oklahoma’s increases in confirmed COVID-19 cases have set records over the last few days – with 352 new confirmed cases reported Friday for a total of 9,706. Friday’s report for Kingfisher County included four new cases, also a record one-day increase, from 13 to 17, with 12 reported recovered.

A thunderstorm brought welcome showers to Kingfisher Friday morning. The system bringing the moisture spread from the north across the county, depositing .9 inch of rain by Noon.

We’ll vote ‘no’ on S.Q. 802

A serious threat to Oklahoma’s health care system appears on the June 30 ballot in Oklahoma. If approved it will make Obamacare a part of the Oklahoma Constiution. It’s forever unless rescinded by a statewide vote at some point. The column below by Steve Fair explains it well.

SQ 802 is bad for Oklahoma

State Question 802 will be on the June 30 primary ballot. It is an initiative petition supported by those who want to expand Medicaid for low-income Oklahomans whose pay does not exceed 133 percent of the federal poverty level. If passed, it would become a part of the state constitution.
